OK with the bio-zyme, should I be putting it in at night? The fish try to eat it and it just goes everywhere. Or should I just put it in the filter? And what about the size of Angels i've asked above? I'm really curious about that.

Yea, I thought I was cutting it close on the stocking. I think i'm just going to keep what we have now, that's what we originally wanted anyways. Thanks again for your help, and Hailey says "hi" Here they are in the tank now!

I think you are borderline of stocking...maybe just get another cory or two. And I can't decide which is most beautiful, the baby girl or your angels, it is an awful close tie, with baby girl coming in by a nose! Congratulations! Heidi

Well I thought i'd be picking up veil Angels today, but it didn't go that way. So i've settled just your basic LFS Angelfish. But I got the colors I wanted anyways. Here they are.....Still in the bag!

So you don't think i'm overstocking the tank a little adding one of those?....I thought it might be or is this kind of borderline? Don't get me wrong, i'd love to add a fish!

Ok Jessnick, I'm doing a cross mix to see what you can put in the tank...here are somethings that will go well...

Gouramis
Guppies
hatchets
killies
mollies
platties
rainbowfish
Tetras (not neons)

I'd go with some jewel tetras...they are pretty

The chart I looked at didn't say anything about Rams

But, here is the site...liveaquaria

I still say the jewel tetras I think they are quite pretty...Oh and the baby is growing, she is Beautiful!!!

I know your thinking....another question? Jesh! Is there any one fish I could put in this setup, or is that out of the question? I was thinking of a Ram, but I don't know much about them and also know the Angels can be a little territorial. If not one of them, anything? Just curious. BTW tank is doing great, nice clear water, no smell. Ammonia 0ppm, Nitrite 0ppm and Nitrates 10 ppm.....wooohoooo cycled! Angels on Tuesday!

Sorry Jessnick, don't know what happened to me, yes go ahead and put it in the filter then so the fish don't try to eat it...I know I had angels once, and the one I had grew to be the size of my hand in about a year, if memory serves right...if it were me, I'd wait till you find just what you want...but that is just me...but yes put the biozyme in the tank the day you plan on bringing your newest babies home

My wife and I have just recently started our 29 gal. hexagon tank over, with the intention of stocking it with 2 Veil Angels, a school of Harlequin Rasboras and a school of False Julli Corys. I washed the tank out with a bleach solution and changed the gravel. I didn't wash the filter and plants with the bleach solution, but did change the filter media and cleaned the aerobic grid aggresively(It's a Tetra Whisper 40). To cycle the tank I thought the Harley's and corys would be enough. They have now been in for a week with no signs of Ammonia or Nitrites??? My tap water measures at 5ppm of Nitrates and has slowly rised to about 8 or 9ppm. Could the tank still be cycled from before? Or do I just need a bit more bio-load in the tank?

BTW school of harley's (11)
school of corys (6)
temp. 78 degrees F
ph 7.2

Ok a couple more questions. My LFS didn't have NIC, so instead I had to get Bio-Zyme. Is this going to be alright?
I have not gotten the Angels yet because no LFS has what I am looking for....well sort of. I did find some veiltail Angels, but they were HUGE. I kind of had my heart set on getting smaller ones and watching them grow you know? So the first question about that is, are the HUGE Angels I saw mean that they are just that much older? Or does size really not coincide with age? Secondly if I do end up getting smaller Angels to start out, will the Harley's be ok with them or should I be worried about them getting nipped at? Thanks again in advance!

OK Jessnick, do a 20% WC...
What again is in the tank to cycle it, the cories and the harleys? So those two school are filled out? If so go get the 2 angels you want, or a couple more harleys or cories...Just watch your parameters closely this week, I'd test every evening to make sure it's still in good shape. By the way I forgot to ask do you have fresh charcoal in your filter? If not that could be the reason for the smell:%). Also here is one of those crazy old tips we all tend to forget. Take some gravel from an established tank, put it in one of your wife's clean knee highs , and drop it in...If you don't have the bacteria going yet this will help, or just go get some bacteria starter/cycle in the tank...this will make sure you are cycled also...PetSmart has a brand that is cheaper than cycle and does just as well...forget the brand it is in a white bottle with a blue label, and it's called something like "bacteria starter"...I'm crossing my fingers for you, so go get some fish and take some pictures!!!Heidi

PS...scrolling down this page makes you feel as though Gary is all over itjust looking at the avatars, that is

Still no ammonia or nitrites?????? But water is still a little cloudy???? FYI I tested one of my Betta tanks, which I knew would have a little ammonia in it (because it had been a week and was due for a WC)just to test my test kit out and it does work? IM SO CONFUSED ]

Mmm, I don't like bacterial blooms in aquaria that smell. My experience has been that water changes do not extend or shorten the cycle.

Do a 20% water change every other day to knock down the bloom. It will still take a week to go away but it won't smell quite as bad!
