Getting back into the hobby | |
Darknyss Small Fry Posts: 5 Kudos: 3 Votes: 1 Registered: 19-Dec-2003 | I haven't had a tank in a few years now but I want to get back into it. My dream is a 50g (200l) tank but for the moment all I have is a 7g (30l) one. I'm going to start planting and cycling the little one but I'm not sure which fish to put in it. It's a high hexagonal model so I'm not sure if it's any good for a betta for example. I had two ideas: A. 6 Endler's + 4 Pygmy Cory's B. 1 Betta + 4 Pygmy Cory's. Any good? If you have any other ideas, please let me know. |

Pygmy corys are small and also swim above the bottom, so not having as much bottom as, say, a normal 10 gallon, isn't a big deal. -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |

Had a betta in it for the longest time he did fine in it. I'd be rather worried about the lack of surface area, just be sure it gets good filtration and surface movement to help make up for the lack of surface volume. ^_^ |

As an example my old LFS sold very tall 6ft tanks but a small surface area and many thought wow a big tank and I can load it up. Just make sure you have a good filtration system and certainly a good air stone to help distribute the water and air through the tank this also enlarges the water surface. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do.
