Good 5 Gallon Tank | |
kj fishy-finn Big Fish Posts: 385 Kudos: 200 Registered: 21-Jan-2004 | So I have the Marineland Eclipse Hex 5 that I had with me up at college, but it's not exactly cutting it for me much anymore. It was nice, but now I'm starting to look into replacing it with another 5 gallon tank that is ideal as a planted betta tank. My tank currently doesn't have the best set-up for lighting as I've noticed the back of the tank is noticeably darker because of the way the filter is built in. I would also like a tank that is glass and good for actually viewing the fish and plants. Currently I have some Cryptocoryne beckettii that I managed to salvage from my 20 gallon before I tore that down. There is also a betta and a snail. Does anyone have any good tank suggestions that would meet my requirements? Hopefully some hands-on experience as well... I'd possibly be willing to go a bit larger than a 5 gallon but not as far as a 10 gallon. Thanks! kj fishy-finn <*)))>< 20 Gallon Album 5 Gallon Album |

I got the tank at one of the PetsMart stores and purchased the filter & light from Doctors FosterSmith. It's just right for plants and a betta. Remember it is a small tank and that you need to be careful not to over crowd it with quantities of fish, nor with over size fish. They can be perfect for small tetras, or one of the small shrimp types such as the cherry shrimp - 10 would be perfect and their "cherry" color would stand out in the greens of the plants. Small to medium plants are perfect. The small ones because the water is so shallow the light does not need to be high intensity. The medium plants which abound are the equivalent of the "tall" plants. Keep on your water changes, and trim plants as necessary. I think you will have fun with the small tanks.
