Sleepy Fingerling Posts: 31 Kudos: 37 Votes: 5 Registered: 06-Oct-2005 | Im looking at a 20 gal hex with stand, random filter, and heater. The price on it is $40- is it me or is this tank a steal? (seller says the tank has no damage and holds water) Thanks. |

The only problem is that you are really limited as what you can do with the tank because of it's overall design and dimensions. Jim |

Aquscaping a Hex tank is certainly a chellange it requires a lot of thought and planning. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. Even though the seller claims no damage, would your money be refunded if the tank had leaks? To me the filter and heater aren't a big deal; I have certain brands that I like and stick with, but not a bunch can be done with a leaky tank. If you have the space and money and feel comfortable with the seller/condition of the tank, go for it. The only hex I've dealt with are 2.5g...I just threw together one of these (I had a few ) as a small temporary home for my betta, a piece of driftwood, and misc pieces of java fern/moss and for 10 minutes of work the darn thing doesn't look too bad. Would be better if I painted a back section but still... My point is that while a hex can be challenging, it also can be done well. It sounds like you have some good ideas in mind, maybe you could also check out some aquascaping or aquatic photography sites to get more ideas. If you do buy it please share some pics with us ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |
