Neon tetras could work in a 10g hex since they do not get that big. So you could try 6 neon tetras. I also agree that the danios or barbs would work as they are very active and need a lot of space. The 10g hex has even less room (length wise) to swim so I would not recommened very active fish. I think 6 neon tetras would work or a few female bettas would look cool too ![]() |

If you like a Betta, you can get one or else get 6 small bodied Tetra's. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.geocities.com/s8xi5heh/classic_blue.html http://groups.yahoo.com/group/buzaqq/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

Additionally they're schooling fish and generallly do better in groups of 4-6 as a minimum. With both danios and barbs you won't really need to worry about them breeding as they have a handy habit of eating their own eggs. For a 10 gallon, a few female bettas may work, they're often quite hardy. Or if you prefer male bettas one of them will work nicely in a 10. ^_^[hr width='40%'] The life, the love, You die to heal. Mike71![]() Fingerling Posts: 32 Kudos: 24 Votes: 0 Registered: 10-Aug-2005 | Thanks. Is there any difference between the different Danios ?? I see gold ones, zebra, leopard etc. probably a stupid question, but does it matter what sex I get. Do I need to get 2 of the same sex if I don't want them to breed??? |

Danios would be perfect for cycling the tank while small tiger barbs would provide a splash of color after the tank is cycled. __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |
