I have just found a good spot to put an aquarium.
I was wondering what size aquarium would do good its about 30"long, 19' wide and well any high would do.

I took a inch off of everything and put it in the tank volume calculator and it gave me 40gallons, so what do u think i can fit there, like what is the measuerments of a standered 30-40 gallon aquarium..

sorry if its a little hard to understand what I am trying to say

Thanks 8-)

well, most tanks past 30 gallon go beyond 30", but you say height is not a factor so you could get something like a 40 Gallon Tall aquarium (although i dont like tall tanks..)

Here is a list of the standard tank sizes. 90% of them are listed, but there may be other size tanks at your LFS.

http://www.all-glass.com/products/aquariums/standard.shtml

Hope this helps!

what kind of filter are you looking to get? an outside one?
Remember you got 2".

If your furniture is 20" and the tank is 18" are you worried you wont be able to fit the filter inbetween the tank and the wall? cause you could always move the furniture away from the wall a bit...

if i were you, i would get a 30G ( 30"x12.5"x18" ) that way it will fit perfect, its not 10000 inches high, and you will be able to get your filter and heater in the back there and have room left over. plus! 30G is cheaper than a 40G

Or..... you could get a 29G like Aquapickle and I have..

i'm worried about the filter and heater.

I personally allow 4" for HOB filter, cords, outlets, etc.

29G like Aquapickle and I have

A 29g is a 'tall' tank as well, if that makes any difference. For those dimensions I personally prefer a 20 long, with more space available a 30g.

Good luck

Why not get a custom made tank and get exactly what you want.

Remember when calculating capicity you must allow for substrate and any thing else in the tank this can easy exceed 10-15% of you water capicity.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
