Just wondered about what is the maximum time you can keep a betta in the transport bag ?

about any fish, in a bag, will be ok in the bag for 5-6 hours if kept in a warm place and kept covered...like inside another opaque bag, like a grocery bag.

When they are imported into Aust they cood be bagged up to 24hrs from the time they leave their distributer overseas.

well, they cant really re-oxygenate them on the plane, they kinda have to be bagged that long.

Just reciently drove 4 gold barbs from NY to maryland....it was all in all about a 10 hour trip, they weren't unbagged till the following morning approx 24 hours after being bagged. However they had been bagged very very well, and had one of the sleep tablets added.
