the tank has about 20 litres in it, a small heater which ive monitered carefully and it has kept an average temp of betweem 26-27 celsius.
I also have a small filter, 2 plastic plants and a skull, as well as a hollowed out log toy that my betta loves swimming through.
So far it seems happy, swims around, eats and stuff, and the other thing I was considering would be to add the 3 white clouds of mine in with the Betta at some stage. My local aquarium advised me that was the fish to go with for a small Betta tank.
I've just found out recently the clouds like to be in groups but I'm not sure how many would be good for the tank as I don't want to overcrowd it.

I hope I've been descriptive enough, this is my first tank in many many many years but I don't know my fish terms to well.

Thanks in advance!

That's too small for white clouds. They are very active and prefer a group of 6+ so I wouldn't suggest keeping them in anything smaller than a 20g long. 20us gallons is 75.7litres. Since your tank is heated(actually quite warm for cold water fish like white clouds) and filtered you could go with a nonschooling fish like a couple cherry barbs or if you keep the water quality up a couple small algae eaters like otos. Inverts are also a possiblity. Sometimes bettas will pick on them but usually you can keep applesnails or ghost shrimp in a betta tank. Some people have put a school of neon tetras in 5g tanks with bettas but personally I think that's a bit cramped for the tetras.

To start off with when you say 20Lt was that the size the LFS told you or are you just guessing. Reason for saying this is that it could be far less as all the extras in the tank take up space, eg my 40+lt tank actually holds 32Lt. If you look in "Interactive" -> Calculations you will be able to calculate the correct amount of water but remember this does not include all the extras.

As far as WC yes that is a nono. Also if your LFS is advising you to BUY them I strongly suggest start looking for another LFS which will give you all the correct infomation.
I have Cardinal Tetras in my Betta tank but they are far happier in schools/groups 10+++ yet some have far less. Cardinals are far hardier than the Neons in my personal opinion.

Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do.

Keithgh, It has 20 litres, I counted as I filled it, the tank has room for more water but I havent filled it to the top.
Other then the wrong WC information I have had alot of luck with this store, I may have just ran into a misinformed employee ...

Sham, don't know of otos or inverts... eep. But thanks for the info! I'll look them up =)

That is the only correct way to measure for a tank especially small tanks.
