I'm trying to hatch baby brine shrimp in a one gallon mini-tank but my water gets a bit cold (75F). Can anyone tell me how to keep it warmer? It's too small for a heater and I do keep the light on 24 hours but its not enough to heat it up. Or does it matter? I don't mind if it takes 48 hours or more - I'm just wondering if they'll hatch.

I have an airstone in there and some of the eggs are swirling around but most have settled at the bottom. Is that normal or did I put in too many eggs? I put 1 teaspoon as the package recommended for a 1 gallon. And how do I know if they're hatched?

This is turning out to be much more complicated than I thought...

Thanks for any advice!!

A couple of Sugestions

A reptile heater pad on the bottom of the tank or bright light above the tank can be used to raise the temperature.

Using an air curtain will keep the current going better than a normal air stone.

When failure has occured after the begining of a series of attempts, make further attempts.

I'd about given up on trying to 'grow my own'. Will have a go at following these instructions now though. Thanks

Here's a link to a step by step guide with photos on how to make your own very effective brine shrimp hatchery. Hope it helps.
