What Should Be Put Into 4Ft Community? | |
desiredusername Enthusiast Posts: 182 Kudos: 99 Votes: 36 Registered: 26-Sep-2006 | I am finally ready to stock my new aquarium, a 4ft 200l tank. Would these fish be too much for the tank and would they be compatible? 3 angelfish 10 neon tetras 3 blind mexican cave fish 6 bronze corys, or other corydoras 2 clown loaches |

Also, i would get 3 Clown Loaches instead, as they prefer to be kept in groups of at least 3, and in my experience, will fight amongst each other much more often if only kept in pairs. And BTW, welcome to Fish Profiles |

Forget about the Angels as soon as they get bigger they will eat the neons/cardinals just for a snack. Clown loaches even though they grow very slow they will soon outgrow that tank. Have you got any driftwood, rocks and live plants yet. Sorry to be so harsh on your small list. Instead of Bronze corys, how about a schoal (misspell?) of 8-10 panda corys. They're slighty smaller and have similar colorings as the Clowns. Plus, they are some of the most active of corys, as close as you can get to the antics of Clown loaches. I've seen blind cave fish, but do they school? |

I still have one large one left and it would be closer to 9ins now. The smaller ones have been growing at a fast rate at about 1ins per year may be it all the food they get. Real plants are very easy to keep providing you select the right species. Yes many plants can be difficult to maintain. I suggest go and have a look at many LFS as you can see what plants you can buy then come back with a list. Plants also require a good special lighting system not just the house hold lights. I can vouch for them outgrowing tanks, and it happens quicker than you think. I started with 3 in a 4ft and within a year I had to upgrade to a 6ft. Unless you are willing to do the big change down the track, I wouldn't advise getting them, although they are hard to resist. |
