Why don't you do a fishless cycle?

About four danios should work well. Leave them in there for at least four weeks, and you should be good to go to get more fish (gradually). Test your water first, however, and make sure there is no ammonia or nitrites.

Most LFS will do water tests for free.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

Ben,

I am with Cory, 4 will be ok, even 6 will be fine as well. They are hardy buggers

Last time you started a thread you asked about setting up a 15 or 20 G, did you get a 30 instead? That would be lovely. What are the dimensions?

Kim – Why should he do a fishless cycle (just curious)?

Alot of people recommend fishless cycles because its quicker, you can stock the tank faster once done and it doesnt potentially harm any fish. Each to their own though. I personally cycle with fish, and if its done properly (slowly) no fish will be ill affected.

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I also like to fishless cycle, as I may not want to keep the types of fish that are best for cycling. Once you have one tank cycled, its very easy to start others as you can use some of your gravel or media to get a jump start

If you're not doing a fishless cycle, them go with 4-6 Danios.
