I am thinking that it's the Nerite Snails that are doing them. Does anybody know what they are?. http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

I assumed that perhaps that was a nerite snail type egg or egg capusle which of course is different than your normal snail jelly capsule, eh? Is that simular to what you are seeing on your tank? |

Do you think they are eggs?. Personally i never see any small snails, but i have Brichardi fry with them & they might eat them. http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

I've only seen 1 species of freshwater nerite for sale on aquabid, ebay, and sites selling snails for planted tanks but brackish nerites are frequently sold for the exact reason that they can't multiply out of control in a freshwater tank. |

illustrae Fish Addict Posts: 820 Kudos: 876 Registered: 04-May-2005 | Yeah, the little white spots are eggs, but they will not hatch in fresh water. You can scrape them off or leave them there. It's up to you, but they will not hurt anything, they just look a little funny. On the good side, it leans that you have some happy snails! Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean... |

I don't know if there's a specific salinity you need or even what these snails are like when they hatch out. Alot of saltwater snails and shrimp(as well as some freshwater) hatch out or give birth to a larval form which is usually destroyed by your filtration/water movement or starve to death. I have a bunch of saltwater nerites in my marine tank that are always laying eggs but I've never seen any baby snails. |
