Well, I just got some, LOVE THEM! And a friend of mine keeps bunches of them in all of her tanks.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

I am asking, because i am finding alot of spots on the glass & i don't know what they are. I am thinking that it's the Nerite Snails that are doing them. Does anybody know what they are?.

On the tanks where I have nerite snails, I find little white spots that make me thing of small "pods" on the glass... I assumed that perhaps that was a nerite snail type egg or egg capusle which of course is different than your normal snail jelly capsule, eh? Is that simular to what you are seeing on your tank?

The only downside to nerites is that they coat the glass in dozens-100s of eggs.

Yes, that's what i find on the glass. They are white spots & by time some turn to a light red colour.

Do you think they are eggs?.

Personally i never see any small snails, but i have Brichardi fry with them & they might eat them.

Most nerites sold for planted tanks are brackish snails and while they live fine in freshwater the eggs cannot hatch unless they are moved to brackish. I've only seen 1 species of freshwater nerite for sale on aquabid, ebay, and sites selling snails for planted tanks but brackish nerites are frequently sold for the exact reason that they can't multiply out of control in a freshwater tank.

Are they like Malyasians where they do not need a mate or like an apple snail that does?

Yeah, the little white spots are eggs, but they will not hatch in fresh water. You can scrape them off or leave them there. It's up to you, but they will not hurt anything, they just look a little funny. On the good side, it leans that you have some happy snails!

Supposedly but it's probably not that simple. I don't know if there's a specific salinity you need or even what these snails are like when they hatch out. Alot of saltwater snails and shrimp(as well as some freshwater) hatch out or give birth to a larval form which is usually destroyed by your filtration/water movement or starve to death. I have a bunch of saltwater nerites in my marine tank that are always laying eggs but I've never seen any baby snails.
