MS XP resizer is extremly easy to use. I can assure it has to be for me. For posting photos just experment, and for doing a avatar that takes a bit of time it is just a matter of downsizing until you get it correct.

If it was not basic I would not be able to use it at all.

The tank is clear of any trace of snails. The clown loaches are so cool, playing follow the leader all over the place.. Hopefully i will get some tetras in the next couple of weeks. Probably 15 i don't know what species yet though. Thinking along the lines of rummy nose or cardinals or something about that size.
Have fun

CL's don't grow very quickly & are considered as slow growers.

I can see this will be an interesting fish to keep. I will possably get a second c l but i will see how this guy goes for a couple of weeks. I had friends keep single fish quite sucessfully. The new plant tank in question is a 4ft x18in x20in. plenty of room for the cl for at least a couple years Maybe, how quickly do they grow?

I think the CL method is the easiest & gives best results.

I have recently begun a planted tank setup as a center peice in our dining room. I constructed a stand and currently on re-working a light to house 3 48ins tubes. Its looking good now , and i cant wait to get the extra watts. Sitting, pondering the final layout and plant types i saw , no 2, no more than 15 snail egg sacks. My tank is doomed b4 it actually starts, so the question i have to any one in the know. What do I do? I didnt want to use chems but im afraid it will be the only choice? Will the possable chems harm the plants? All these eggs from the 1 stow away on a plant]:| The mummy snail has a cone shaped shell, and is kinda see through yellow

Sham

Mine will be there for about another month to make sure there are no more snails left. I also have to get him used to a net so that I can catch him Remember mine is a very small fella.

The problem with clown loaches is they get big and like company. It's not really fair to keep them alone in a small tank unless it's for a very short time to clear an out break of snails. Almost all the smaller loaches will do just as good of job and be happier in most tanks unless you have a gigantic tank. I always feel sad when I see clowns in the store since I know they'll got to anyone with tank and snails regardless if it's a 10-20g tank or a 200g tank.

I talked to my lfs guyand he also recommended a clown loach. I picked up a 2in clown this arvo. A friend also had a cucmber trick. Put a peice in a small jar/container and over night will catch large numbers. Rinse out tle jar and do again. I found the culprit last night and put it in a bucket out side i will try and get a picd. Keith i down loaded the pic resizer from microsoft but am yet to use it have you any tips on using it? Thanx for the info peeps have fun

"i put some cucumber in the tank, wait till its covered in snails and take it out . its pretty effective"

Fishing for snails

I had the same thought, but then again my platies would not leave any space for snails to reach the cucumber.

I have just had the exact same experience but after tank set up and running. See below for my tank info.

I went and bought one small Clown Loach and intend to move it into the 5ft tank later.

I cleaned my plants extremly well but those snails/snail eggs very possibly came via the gravel.

Have a look in [link=My Profile]http://
www.fishprofiles.com/interactive/forums/profile.asp?userid=6741" style="COLOR: #00FF00[/link] for my tank info

aliceisadog,

I would say it all depends on what kind of fish you are planning to get. Quite a few (loaches and others) love a good snail treat.

On the other hand, a clear identification of what snail it is would also help, as some of them are actually good for your tank (in numbers). They are active algae removers, ground cleanup crews, and substrate aerators. Any chance you could get a picture?

Chemicals, as you mention yourself, should be your last resort. And your tank is not doomed (well, yet ).
