I am gonna setup a breeding tank of cherry these days my luck is that I have an aquarist friend that have a lot of the so I get them free or I trade with him some of my fishes and plants. Now to the point I want to know how many cherry shrimp can I keep in a breeding tank of 10 gallons. I am gonna breed them to sell them to my LFS. And help cover the expenses of the hobby. Any help would be appreciated.

I would start with a dozen so you have space for the offspring to grow out but a good chance of getting several males and females. If you find you have more space for breeders you can keep a few of the offspring.

You can have a ton of shrimp in a 10 gallon tank. It's a good sized tank for a breeding colony. I started with 6 cherry shrimp about a year ago, and now I have more than I could ever hope to count. I have a power filter with a sponge over the inlet, and I perform water changes and very very careful gravel vacs about once a month. I also put a lot of my plant cuttings in this tank to grow out, and the shrimp love the added cover and places to explore. Java moss is a must, as it will provide baby shrimp a place to hide, and traps all kinds of food for them to eat. It's probably the healthiest and easiest to maintain of all my tanks. Just remember to not overfeed them.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...
