What would be the best temp to breed pest snails at? I have about 3 in my 10g along with my 2 apple males, and a male betta (who ignores them all compleatly)

I have always been under the impression that pests breed constantly, and under most condidtions. Any idea why mine arn't?

Snails are fun and cute

A temp of around 75F is good for these snails, and lots of available food will get them breeding very quickly. High calcium foods like shrimp pellets will be good for shell building. Basically put as much food as you can in there without compromizing water quality.

I give them flakes, and they may be munching on my betta pellets as well. Do you suppose a freeze dried worm cube would help? I have plenty of those, since most of my fish won't touch them

The snails will probably munch on the worm cube if you put it in there, but probably not fast enough to avoid water quality issues.Just keep feeding them flake, and maybe drop a few shrimp pellets in if you can get some. Some fresh veggies like cucumber and blanched lettuce will make them happy, too, just don't keep the veggies in for more than a day or they'll start to pollute the water.

The applesnails are eating the eggs. You won't get many pestsnails. One reason I added applesnails to my tank was to out compete the pest snails. I also have had 2 ramshorns in my 5g for something like 6months and there are no babies because first the tank had applesnails and now it has trumpet snails. Temperature makes little difference(anything between 70-85F is fine) and it mostly depends on how much you feed them. The more food the more eggs and the more babies survive but it also depends on how good your applesnails are at finding the eggs. In my 90g with all sorts of planted areas and pieces of driftwood the pest snails occasionally manage to multiply. I also feed that tank twice daily but I never see more than 1 or 2.
