What is the difference between a Nerite Snail & a Common Apple Snail?.

They are completely different species. Nerites are characterized by having two distinct and large (relatively speaking) "teeth" that they use to scrape algae and detrius from surfaces. Nerite snails are also found in a wider variety of habitats, ranging from full freshwater to full saltwater. There are also a number of different seperate species of nerites, characterized by different shell patterns.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

You can keep them together, and they will not interbreed at all. Nerite snils actually require brackish water for their eggs to hatch, which is part of why they are so popular in the aquarium trade, they won't breed like crazy and take over your tank.

Thanks alot once again. I didn't know that they where Brackish & at the moment they are together with normal Apple Snails. I also got some Blue Apple Snails, that i wish to breed. Do you think that Blue Apple Snails & Yellow ones will breed together?.

All applesnail colors provided they are the same species will breed together. Check out [link=http://www.angelfire.com/va/myevolution/snails/bridgesii.htm]http://www.angelfire.com/va/myevolution/snails/bridgesii.htm" style="COLOR: #C000C0[/link] and the basic color genetics page of applesnail.net [link=http://www.applesnail.net/content/ genetics/colour_genes/colour_genes.htm]http://www.applesnail.net/content/ genetics/colour_genes/colour_genes.htm" style="COLOR: #C000C0[/link]. There's a little program out there somewhere that figures the possible colors of snails resulting from 2 parents but it's location got moved around so I can't find it.

Nerite snails are a group of species. 1 at least can live and multiply in freshwater but they are a drab color and seem to be fairly rare. A few others can live in freshwater their whole lives but require brackish water for their eggs to hatch which makes them quite popular for freshwater tanks but still somewhat hard to find since you can't breed them in those conditions. The rest live mostly in saltwater and won't survive freshwater conditions even temporarily. Their shell shape is entirely different from applesnails and you definitely won't mistake the 2 if you should come across nerites.

Thanks alot sham for the links & information you gave me. I am new to Snails & bought some Apple Snails & some Nerite Snails. The Apple Snails are blue & are quite nice, but they are still small. I also have some Golden & Brown Apple Snails. So if they breed together, i will have to seperate them when they get bigger, so i can keep the colours.
