Sounds funny, I know I know but I need to know

If it'a an Apple Snail, it doesn't reproduce by itself. Have you bought the snail?.

We'll need a bit more info. before we can tell you if the snail is a pest. Pest snails tend to be quite small, brown, and they have football-shaped shells. Another type of small snail are Malaysian Trumpet Snails, and they have long, skinny pointed shells and they reproduce very quickly if you tend to overfeed, but they will not damage plants and are generally beneficial. If you have a large roundish snail (quarter-size or larger) usually with a gold color shell then it is probably a mystery or apple snail and not a pest snail that will reproduce on its own. However, if it is one of the apple snails that get very large, then you have a different kind of pest that will eat all your plants as if they were part of a salad-bar.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

Heh opps I didn't think there would be alot of kinds =p stupid me!!

It's a almost black snail, he has a round shell but then to one side it has a spiral. On his gooey little body it's black and his eyes are orange, he also has orange dots on the body part.

My tank is artificaly planted, the only reason I got one =p

I would take a pic but my camera has had a meltdown and needs to go for a repair.

Does anyone have a site with large good pics of the diffrent kinds of snails that I could go to?
THanks for the help so fast.

There are some good examples of common snails one might find in the pet trade.

if the snail has a trap door, chances are pretty good that you have some species of apple snail.
