What Do Snail Eggs Look Like? | |
fishesfishes Small Fry Posts: 9 Kudos: 7 Votes: 1 Registered: 28-Nov-2005 | im relatively new to the hobby and arent quite sure what they look like but, i did find some white things at the top of my tank and they look like flat snailshells are they eggs? |

illustrae Fish Addict Posts: 820 Kudos: 876 Registered: 04-May-2005 | It depends on the kind of snails you have... Apple and Mystery snails lay large masses of eggs that usually appear pinkish. They are hard to mistake as anything other than what they are, so that's probably not what you've got. Nerite snails usually lay their eggs underwater, and they appear as solitary white/yellowish oblong specs. They will not hatch in freshwater, but that doesn't stop the snails from laying them. It means you have happy snails. Pest snails lay clear, almost impossible to see underwater jelly masses on the underside of leaves or in the crook of a stem. I can't think of what else these little white things might be. Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean... |
