So I've got a few red cherry shrimp, and I believe one of them is holding a clutch of eggs under her tail. They've been there for about two weeks, and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me when I can expect her to release her young and if there's anything special I should do to care for them.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

You don't have to do anything, they should hatch in 3-4 weeks, so that's about 1-2 more weeks for you. The babies are miniature version of the adults and eat the same thing the adults do.

Great news, my shrimp released the babies over the weekend! I have no idea how many there are, as I've been able to count only six at one time. And more good news: another shrimp is holding eggs now, so I get to wait for the cycle to start all over again.

I hope to keep the babies in the little tank and move some of the bigger shrimp to my community tank and see how they do.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

Congrats on the shrimp breeding !
I recently got red cherries.. One thing I noticed is they don't take well to being moved.. I moved mine out of the community to their own tank, lost one. I am hoping mine will breed too. Please post on your progress, thanks !
