1 M Betta, 6 Cardinals & 4 Otos all together | |
keithgh *Ultimate Fish Guru* Posts: 6371 Kudos: 6918 Votes: 1542 Registered: 26-Apr-2003 | I have decided to go to a 50Lt 13US Gall. The origional tank 34Lt are not the best quality as they previously were. This 50lt long hex tank will be custom made if I have to do it. L51cm, W39cm & H36cm The filter an Eheim Aquball 2208 up to 60Lt has an output of 480Lph - 126Gph. I have two 50W heater Q Do I run one or two heaters?. With this upgrade there seems no reason not to have the three species together or am I wrong. The tank will be very heaverly planted & established before the Oto's go in Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. I'm excited because I want to do a very similar tank. ...when I get a place of my own and money, of course. ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |

I asked one LFS could I return him if aggressive and the answer was a big NO. When I introduce them to the tank he will be first, and a few days later some cheapies just to see what happens. If all OK cheapies into big tank. I will then add the Cardnials and when fully established the Otos or when they are available. I am going on a big hunt for the DW very soon and I will ask the same question at several Aqariums and look how they keep their Bettas. The local pet shop is moving only a few doors away but to a bigger shop will be very interesting as to what they do, as it is the only LFS/pet shop in town now, after 25 years Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. Callatya Moderator The girl's got crabs! Posts: 9662 Kudos: 5261 Registered: 16-Sep-2001 | if it turns out to be a problem Keith, let me know. One heater, those fish don't like higher tropical temperatures, the otos especially will breathe very very fast if it is too hot. Cheapie fish, such as the small feeders, are nippy. they are almost always barbs, mosquitofish, or firetail gudgeons, all of whom are rather munchy. try adding the cardinals first, then adding the betta in a clear plastic beer glass, floating in the top. he can then get used to the surroundings without becoming too dominant or fearful. |

Then again, I'd be happy to take any bettas off of your hand for you. Edit: If you want to see what the betta will be like, push too of the containers together at the store. If the fish does alot of flaring then he's probably a bad choice. Last edited by djtj at 19-Mar-2005 10:36 |
