1g Betta setup.... some questions | |
GirlieGirl8519 Fish Master *Malawi Planter* Posts: 1468 Kudos: 1029 Votes: 35 Registered: 25-Mar-2005 | I just got me a 1g Betta setup and a new Betta boy. It came with a little undergravel filter thing and an airstone. I didn't put it in there because I knew it would create too much current and Bettas don't like that. Will it be ok without a filter or airstone? I'm trying to figure out a way to connect airline to the gang valve on my 55g and run it to the Betta setup so I can adjust the current. Should I just not worry about that? I just want my new boy to be happy. I may be able to move him to a 5g soon. I have been using it as a hospital tank and after I clean it good I may decide to put him in there. I will post pics of him soon. He is very handsome!:%) |

There is also a small screw clamp that compress the tubing this allows the air flow to be controled as well. Take a trip to a good LFS expain what you have (a simple sketch will help) and tell them exactly whatyou require. I have one for my 55g and I could probably find another one like it. I'll have to decide if I'm going to put him in the 5g or not. I really would like for him to have the bigger house, I just have to decide if I need a hospital tank or not. Thanks. Here's a picture of my new guy: The quality is horrible, I know. The bulb on the hood is a small incandecent and makes him look red, so I took the picture with just the room light on. There are bubbles on the sides of the little tank so it is just a bad picture. Atleast you can see his pretty colors though. Maybe soon if I upgrade him I can get a good picture.[/font] |

I cleaned it out this week, since it was the hospital tank. I am rinsing it everyday with hot water to make sure the cleaner is gone. I am going to get some natural colored gravel this weekend and a better heater. I will put some plant cuttings from my 55g and 10g tanks so he will have a bigger, nicer home, like Bettas deserve. Thanks for the advice. :%) |

Hey, I think you have the same kind of tank as me Also, I find it better to not worry about betta filters and just clean and change the part of the water. Every time I have put a betta in filtered tank it was bad luck (Not quite sure why....) Inky |

It would be nice of course but for the betta not really necessary. I have mine in a ten and not running air at all, although the filter runs a nice slow current that keeps the water aerated |
