Am I underfeeding my betta? | |
CrimsonaX Hobbyist Posts: 130 Kudos: 57 Registered: 30-May-2007 | A few days ago I bought an Ambulia (typo maybe?) plant for my tank, and my Betta is nipping at its leaves every so often. Even more recently, a friend gave me a bristlenosed pleco, which is, yes, with my betta (for now, hopefully not too long) and so Ive put in a single algea tablet, which my betta is nibbling on a fair bit too. Am I not feeding him enough usually? (2 pellets in the morn, 1 bloodworm in the afternoon), or is there a chance he's going to overfeed himself? |

Betta tummies are very small so dont overfeed. I feed mine the hikari betta pellets. He gets 4 in the morning then a couple bloodworms in the noontime and late he gets 4 more pellets. He is happy so I guess its good enough. |

He's given himself a slight bloating from the algea waffers but I'll get him on a higher feed tonight once it's gone down more ^^ Thanks ya'll ^^ |

This is placed in a floating live worm feeder, and he has learnt to knock it and the worms fal out, I have cut most of the bottom out and make the holes bigger. The Cardinals and the SAE also knock it. Tue-Sat are all different foods from small pinhead pellets to various flake foods. the amount would not cover my small finger nail. Sun water chage day no feeding (I NEVER feed on a change water day) Another thing to consider is the size of the tank as mine is 32lt he gets plenty of exercise and would eat far more that a Betta in a small tank by himself. here is MY BETTA TANK Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. They look nice, I haven't ever used them. Do they soften up quickly? Sink or float? There are pretty forgiving, he won't drop dead on that amount of food, and in some cases slightly underfeeding is beneficial, but I'd be upping that just a little for him. I haven't tried the Haifeng either Keith... hmm, methinks we need a food thread |

I got a sample with my tank kit, they are called tetramin tropical flakes. If anyone feeds their betta flakes let me know if it is a success and I will try it, a little variety would probably benefit my little buddy. Not all that great as a stable as it isn't usually meaty enough, but it can be good for variety Give it a try, worst case scenario you can just fish it out again |
