Another Dwarf Gourami Q | |
waldena Hobbyist Posts: 117 Kudos: 80 Votes: 71 Registered: 30-Jan-2006 | Kind of similar to Juwel-180's. I had a pair of Dwarf Gourami's in a 33g, but the male died over the weekend At the moment, I can't work out why - there seems to be no reason. Water quality is good, my BN has recently decided she prefers to dine alone and will chase everyone away but other than that there are no threatening fish in there which would have stressed him out - anyway I may post more on this in The Hospital. My question here is, should I replace him? I'm quite happy to leave my tank as is but I don't want the female to be lonely, will she be OK on her own? What I'm concerned about if I do replace him is if he chases her to the point of stressing her. The old male would only occasionally chase her and I'm not convinced I could fit 1m/2f in my tank (assuming I could find another female). Current stocking for a 33g is: 8 neons 1 DG 1 BN 4 Sterbai Cories 3 kuhli loaches 3 chain loaches |

But after about 3 days they are getting along fine and are now swimming togeather. It toook me a long time to find another as i wanted a sunset one to go with my sunset female. Wat kind was yours? |

Until I can work out what caused the death, or I'm a little more confident that whatever happened isn't going to happen again, there won't be any additions to the tank. I don't see that happening for about a month yet. What I'm trying to get from this post is whether my surviving female would be happier with a companion, or if she will be happy enough on her own? If anybody has any ideas or wants to know more detail behind the death then I have a post in The Hospital titled Unexplained Death (sorry if this seems to be double posting, but I see these as 2 different questions). I have the Neon DG. I think that I may have trouble finding a replacement, I haven't seen them in the LFS for quite a while. This leads neatly on to the next question, will different varieties of colisa lalia mix (assuming I went with that option which I'm not sure I would)? |
