Yes you can, but its always going to be somewhat dependant on swimming ability, the bettas personaility and the other fish in the tank (eg serpae tetras are bad bad bad) |

It'll really depend on how strong a swimmer your particular betta is, but I'm finding that I need to move my betta out of my current 46 gallon tank because it looks like the current is really wearing him out. He's healthy and normal, but after working against the current at the top of the tank, I find he'll spend a lot of time down near the bottom to get a rest - so that's why he's going into his own private 2.5 gallon tank soon. Anyway, just keep en eye out for similar behavior and tell us how it goes |

houston Fish Guru You want what when? Posts: 2623 Kudos: 2462 Votes: 337 Registered: 29-Mar-2003 | I have 2 bettas in different tanks that are in with others (the others are seperate)...Lucky the Betta is in the 125 and is perfectly happy looking after everyone else...He's a really good momma betta Just don't tell him he's supposed to not be a bottom feeder or a schooling type fish:%) [img=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v601/hmlaird/125%20Gallon%20Tank/luckyandcorriescomingthrough.jpg[/img] The other betta who is currently in a tank with some "friends" is Rosa Parks, unfortunately she isn't as sweet and loving as Lucky, and she immediately took care of any guppy fry, and juvenile guppies in the tank (tis ok, it was the "ugly" guppy tank), but now I think she's getting her just rewards, her tail looked a bit frayed last night I think someone in the tank has had enough of her Oh and like monkeyboy up there, they are both in filtered tanks, Lucky has some real plants, but primarily fake; and Rosa has some real plants as well... heidi "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." bettachris Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3875 Kudos: 4173 Votes: 452 Registered: 13-Jun-2004 | depends on info ur not given us, tanksize, filter, tankmates. what type of betta is it, veil? in this case i would say no, veils are not found in the wild, and this is b/c the long tail makes it harder for the fish to swim, so there is one reason he wont be happy, being dragged, which can make other fish want a taste of him. angels need a large tank so the filter would have to powerfull, and that would be too much for a betta. bettas are best by themselves. |
