I saw these at a lfs and they are the cutest thing, after having researched i'm undecided as to whether to get a couple or not. Has anyone had these before, what are your experiences with them. According to the research they are very difficult to keep alive!!!

Those who say they cant, Never will !!!

I had two of these fish and they both died within the first two days. I suggest you give them a go and see what happens!!

I've kept them before with success.

As long as you have an established planted tank with a relatively low pH/hardness, they should be fine. They are sensitive to changes in water chemistry and any pollutants, but they aren't too hard.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

I think cory is right if you give these fish soft water and low pH you have a pretty good chance of keeping them. However I really wouldn't suggest them. These are not easy fish to keep and they require a lot of care. Also although you wouldn't know it, males can be as nasty to each other and females as betta males are. If you want to try I would opt for a larger tank say 55gal with soft water, low pH, lots of plants, and a very REGULAR water change regime. I would also reasearch this fish considerably before you decide to purchase it.
