i recently bought a pair of coral blue dwarf gouramis.
they are very blue. they are also very aggressive and very large for dwarfs, about 7-8cm. i was wondering whether all of the above is caused by artificial hormones or something?

I read somewhere that male dwarf gouramis can get up to 8cm in the wild but it does seem strange that yours are that big. Males will fight with each other if they don't have enough space so maybe thats the aggressiveness problem. Maybe some pictures will help.

sorry i dont have any pics of them right now.
they are in a 55G so i think they have enouth space. the aggression is not so much between the 2 dwarfs. its more betwween the dwarfs and the female pearls(the male peral intimidates them ot much so they dont really bother him).

tank details:
Fish
3 pearl gouramis
1 bristlenose cat(female)
4 jouvi angels
2 kribs(pair)
2 SAE
14 black neons

its a heavily planted. the dwarf are suppossed to go in a 29 that iam setting up for them.

I used to have some that sort of size, probably had a bit of indian gourami in them somewhere. Made all the ones in the shops look really small and wimpy, but they never had any eggs hatch. Might be the hybrid/low fertility thing.

Ill see if I can root out some old video of them.

hmm, interesting. Like Randy wrote, in the wild males can get to 8cm(3.2" but I don't see how that will happen in a tank. Maybe they may have been labeled wrong? I thought I was getting honey gouramis before but the store had marked them wrong and I was actually getting Pink Kissing Gouramis lol So if it was a wrong label, you may have some other kind of Gourami

10G- 6 Zebra Danios, 1 Upside Down Catfish
20G- 1 Goldfish
72G(maybe95)- Need Stock suggestions
