Gourami and angel fish | |
shrek Fingerling Posts: 18 Votes: 0 Registered: 11-Jun-2004 | I have a 4"+ gourami and an 1.5" angelfish in a 55g tank. It's behaving weird lately. When provoke by other fishes, ie. tiger barbs, the gourami will chase them. But it doesn't seem to mind when the angelfish is attacking it. Whenever the angel is pecking at the gourami, it doesn't seem to know that it was being attacked. Angelfish has bit the gourami often enough to cause the gourami to bleed. Anyone seen anything like this? Any suggestions? Thanks, |

How is the Elec.Yellow doing with the other fish?. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.geocities.com/s8xi5heh/classic_blue.html http://groups.yahoo.com/group/buzaqq/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

A red tailed shark could also be terretorial, so bleeding may come from other fights. |

I actually saw the Gourami being attacked by the angelfish and there was a wound on the gourami. What bother me about this is that gourami is not fighting back as it would with other fishes. I have seen the gourami chase the angel from time to time to and it's actively chasing other fishes, so I don't think it's sick. When the angelfish pecks at it, it's just floating there and doesn't seem to know that it's hurt. Not to mention that gourami is much bigger than the angelfish. Very unusual behavior. |

You have two choices either remove the Angel (which I would do) or remove the Gourami. When the Gourami is laying on its side it is possibly in shock from the bully Angel.
