THIS is what you get when you try to feed your cories when the girls are still awake!

It's MINE! ALL MINE! Yes, yes, it is. And no one will get it from me. ...now all I have to do is figure out how I'm going to EAT this! Why can't they make these things bite-sized?!

That wafer is part of a "variety pack" for bottom feeders. But apparently EVERYone likes them, even betta girls. The good thing is that the cories LOVE them. I just have to remember to feed them AFTER lights out!

Edit: As a side note, can anyone identify what type of algae that is? It keeps trying to take over my tank!

To stop all the "Greedy Guts" in my 5ft tank I break up all (5)the wafer bits in that way there is enough for all.

I do not have me tank Betta yet.

BGA by the looks, can you get a better pic?

keith - hehe... usually I just feed the cories after lights out... they devour it overnight, anyway. Today I threw the wafers in while distracting the girls with floating food... and little miss Twerp over there snatched up flake food, then went hunting for wafers. I just thought it was cute, so I grabbed a shot of it. She spent some time grabbing it then spitting it out... seemed to like carrying it around more than truly eating it. Either that or she just couldn't figure out HOW to eat it.

Callatya, it's not BGA, that much I know. I've had that (and in this tank, too), so I know what that's all about. This stuff doesn't have that rank smell and it's much more green than green-blue. It's not slimy, really, though when it covers the onion plant leaves that float on the surface, it gets a bit slimey and ... bubbley. It's weird. It's kind of soft and tends to form long strands that reach up to the surface of the water. I've cropped the previous picture differently... will have to wait until the girls wake up tomorrow before getting another one.

I've seen that before, but er.. at my local river, not in a tank. It is bright green, and i think i know what you mean by bubbles. It looks like it has that 'silk paper' appearance too.

Can I join in the greedy guts pictures?

Sure, anyone can join in!

And yeah, I know what you mean... reminds me of the algae I'll see at our lakehouse. Weird stuff, and no how diligently I remove it, it's back in a few days. Most likely because it's killed off some of my plants and I don't have enough left to absorb the nutrients. I'm tempted to find some hornwort and throw it in, but doing that is what gave me BGA before. *sigh*

Is that a pea your betta is hauling around? I've seen the same with my girls and it always amuses me that they so enjoy their veggies... I've always considered them more carnivorous. *grins*
