seedkiros Mega Fish Posts: 974 Kudos: 270 Votes: 8 Registered: 07-Mar-2003 | Hey there! One thing that concerened me after reading your posts and reply is that the bettas are in relatively small jars. I believe those were 1 quart jars? Like Miss Moppet stated previously, a betta should be kept in a 1 gallon minimum sized bowl/tank. In 1L, there's no room for the betta to swim around or live comfortably, and the bio-load (it's feces, respiration, etc.) will be much too high, and potentially fatal. Unfortunately, one water change per 2 weeks is not nearly sufficient enough. Something like 1 100% water change a day or two days is min. of water changes that should be done. I don't mean to offend you, but you should try to give those bettas bigger homes. I'm sure you'd understand after reading around a bit. Welcome to FishProfiles by the way . |

Betta23 Fingerling Posts: 29 Kudos: 23 Votes: 0 Registered: 07-Mar-2005 | Click Here! Lol. This is my tank with my Jordan XIII on top. I visit here regularly and Niketalk.com so yeah ....Lol sorry for the blurry pic guys! I got Ottocinclus, Painted Platies, Blue Platies, Albino and bronze catfish, a betta, black neon and neon tetras, a red tail shark, cherry barbs. And they are living happily together. The coloration on the white one is pretty unique, altho i was looking for a total albino one. But nice nonetheless! Something about a dark blue/red betta that just captures my heart. Lol!* Been searching for this color green. Very vibrant! And its my just-a-tiny-bit crown tail betta. I think hes just half crown. But its been long since i find one at my local petco and they dont even sort the bettas out. All for $3.49 so... I been loving fish since 6, when my dad brought home 2 bettas. Since then i've been dreaming to get my own tank. And my dream came true 4 years ago when i obtained a 15 gallon tank and built its way up till now, as u guys can see. Im sure this is nothing compared to most of u guys here, but its my lil contribution so bear with me ok? . I've bred bettas successfully before but never knew wat to do with the brood. I dont have many jars at home. Distributing them to my friends was the only way out. Last edited by Betta23 at 07-Mar-2005 22:38 Last edited by Betta23 at 07-Mar-2005 22:39 |

Betta23 Fingerling Posts: 29 Kudos: 23 Votes: 0 Registered: 07-Mar-2005 | ^^ yea i do water changes once every 2 weeks. I've been keeping bettas in relatively small containers since.....my first bettas when i was 6 (16 years old now). Lol and i never had a problem with that. Plus it saves me lots of room for more bowls and more bettas. But thanks for the recommendations. /:' |

I don't recommend keeping bettas in anything smaller than a full gallon unless it is only temporary. To keep a container that small clean enough, you will need to do water changes every day. There is also not enough room for a betta to live comfortably in that space IMO. Those 1 litre bowls are great for decorations, flowers, whatever, but they are not suited for living things. |

Betta23 Fingerling Posts: 29 Kudos: 23 Votes: 0 Registered: 07-Mar-2005 | Thanks for the help Keith, i'd definetely will require some assistance in the future soon. To djtj: Its not really a tank bro. More like a lil bowl i got from Michael, the place where they sell craft, u know all that foam, flowers, Xmas decorations and stuff. They were on sale for 1 dollar a bowl. I'd say the capacity is 1 liter. And im not sure how to convert that into gallon |

djtj Fish Master Posts: 1764 Kudos: 885 Votes: 49 Registered: 20-Feb-2003 | What size bowls are those bettas in? I've been thinking of doing a similar setup with lots of bettas. I'm thinking of putting up a few shelves of them. Are those top 2 pictures the same tank or different ones? Personally, I think that Petco has the best bettas. For other fish they're so-so. However, they have a HUGE selection of bettas by me. I guess those cheap plastic cups really do save space. Oh, and don't feel bad, my biggest tank was a 5 gallon and the only one working now is a 2.5! Last edited by djtj at 09-Mar-2005 13:56 |

I know zero - about Bettas so that makes me at the bottom of the Betta class There is some help in Photo Booth on taking photos. If you would like some help with Aquscaping/photography contact me please Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do.
