i have a 150L that has 1 female gold gourami, a pair of kribs, a school of neon tetras, a scool of black widows and a few corys. would a male gold gourami be to agressive and rough to his tankmates?
should i just get another female?

in a 40 gallon usg tank, i think you would be better without one, as breeding gouramies will be agressive to tankmates.

OK so i can get another female but not a male.
could i get an opaline gourami to go with the gold?
someone told me that puting the diferent color strains together can make them more agresive. is that true?

as a generally rule never mix two sexes of bettas or two males. dont get me wrong, it can work but only if you know what you are doing.

your pretty well stocked, and bettas wouldn't fit in your stocking list.

Most of the time Gouramis and male Bettas don't get along very well, as Bettas mistake them for their own kind because of the bright colours and nice fins. If you really want some Bettas, try just a few females. They're generally less aggressive (But sometimes you can get wild girls ) and should get along better with the gourami.
