I'm getting a small betta tank tommorrow and was wondering if the small mat heaters used for reptile tanks would be okay to get for my small tank ?? The tank will probally be acrylic so I'm not sure if it would be good or not ??

Plz reply, Lee

I have only ever seen one, yes it was on a reptile tank.

It would help for plants as a good bottom heat but I dont think it would be sufficient for an Aquarium.

I have a plant seeding mat. I use it in the winter. I got it at the local plant nursery centre. It works the same way but is 6 ft long and is just a warming mat. I keep my acrylic 2 gallon kritter keepers on it, 5 at a time.

I've saw a Hydor catalogue & they have heating mats for Aquariums. They are good for Aquariums from 2 to 5 gal. only.

Not unless you like in the tropics UK room temp would end up with betta ice cubes

They can be a fire hazard, be sure you set it up correctly and have alarms installed.

Waterbed heaters also work well.
