My lovely blue betta girl has over the past day or two developed some weird spots on her head. They look a lot like pimples and there are two. She is acting perfectly normal and eating and swimmng.

One is under her head near her chin and the other is just beside the top of her head. She is in a 1.25 gallon vase with a heater set at 26 degrees celcius.

I can't see any other signs of disease... just the spots. I did a 50% water change and I need to go to the LFS tomorrow anyway to get plants so I could pick up some medicines then if need be.

What should i do?

If you are going to your LFS take her with you and they should be able to help you.

like he said, take her with you, and have them suggest meds, add alittle salt to her water also.

Thanks to both of you. I have added salt and taken her to the LFS... they say she has hit herself on something.

Some times the easy solution is just looking at you. Well done you got her seen to straight away. Now see if you can locate what caused the damage then remove it or it will continue to happen.

Thanks for your help everyone. Since I added salt the pimply things are less red.... I think she may have injured herself on her plant which has a plastic base so I bought her a nice silk one that she likes better anyway.

Well Done Prue. Sometimes a simple plastic plant can be the cause of fish injuries & eventually deaths.
