I might be getting a small tank, for a male betta and I want to know just some points. I probally won't have a filter, but hopefully will get a heater.

Do I have to leave the water for a week like big tanks or not ?

How often do I have to change the water ?

Can I get the tank and the betta on the same day ?

What can I have to stop the betta from jumpin out ?

How amny gallons is an alright amount. It will have to be below 5 gallons. Is 3 okay ?

Plus could you post some pictures of small tanks, so I can get an Idea.

Thanks, Lee

Anywhere from 1 to 5 gallons is ideal

Heater is rather necessary, i'd make it top priority.

Depending on the size of the tank you can change 100% of the water once a week, or 25% weekly.

If you do partial changes (25% or so) then yes, you should cycle the tank.

You need a lid. If the tank doesn't come with one, I have a site that shows how to make one from plastic canvas. If worst comes to worst, use glad wrap

1-5 gallons is good, what ever u can house,
50-100% water cahnges,
wouldn't need a filter, but a heater is good,
if u are getting a kit, they usually have a cover so they dont jump,
you can get a betta, on teh same day, and i dont think it is ness, to keep the water in there,

anda tip, keep a trash can full of water and add a sponge filter, and from now on, u can have that water, instead of tap, and if u use tap, use something like stress coat,

good luck

Make sure that the fake plant has rounded leaves, so that the Betta wouldn't cut the fins.

I have a 2.5 G tank like yours Theresa, How do you clean it? I found WC's a right pain. Do you do 100% a week or 50% or what? and do you think a hex is ok, cos I did but my betta disagrees and is much happier in the 25G.

Your tanks ALWAYS look so nice.

am jealous.

GFG

PS. do you have heaters in your tanks?
