I have a two gallon hex, and I want to put a sparkling gourami in it. First off, is this enough room, and would the gourami be happy? Secondly, I change the water wierdly. I change all the water and handwash the gravel with water, and no soap obviously. I have heard this is a bad way to do it, but my ammonia and nitrites are ZERO, and even when the tank was cycling with a betta, I have never had an ammonia spike at all, nor a nitrite spike. So would a sparkling gourami be ok, cuz they are kinda fragile with water perameters? I just want what's best for the fish, and if you guys don't think it would be happy for any reason, I won't buy one. Thanks,
Jess

i have one female sparkling gouramie in a 10 gallon. and haven't found her to be that sensitive.

with your water changes, make sure u let the water sit for awhile when you change 100 % of water.

Unless I am wrong I thought that the gourami like their own company. Being only a 2g hex (and that is empty) by the time you add the substrate and any thing else you certainly will be under 2g.

Personally I would not even consider it at all. I do not have a tank that small and I could not suggest suitable inhabitants but some members certainly could help you.
One very important thing to remember the smaller the tank the more regular all the work must be done and, that being a 2g there is no margin for any errors.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

hmm... so you think it could work? Cuz I just love sparkling gouramis. . .and it looks like my lfs can special order one for me. . .so would that pretty much be the only fish I could put in there? Cuz two gallons isn't a lot of space and I certainly wouldn't want to overcrowd it.

I really don't think that's a big enough tank. There is not enough room for him to grow
