Lately I have noticed my Betta presses himself agains the main large DW about 50mm - 2ins from the top of the tank and just stares at the surface of the water. He can stay ther for several minutes. At the moment he is doing it in about the strongest part of the water current from the internal filer mid stream/ close to the front of the tank and about 15mm - 1/2ins from the top of the water. Neither of these locations are in his feeding area.

Any ideas on this one please.

it sounds to me as if the current is way too strong, and is pushing him against the decore, i used to have this problem too, but, now only my females are in the main tanks

Tryturning the flow down, or move some plants in front of the current to lessen his discomfort

Sorry to say the current flow at that point is one of the slowest in the tank. He also does this in other parts of the tank as well. I have even seen him playing in the airstone bubbles.

I have been watching him more closely since this behaviour started and I am convinced he is watching the air bubbles move across the surface of the water.

He is situated about 3ins from the air stone bubbles and the filter flow and air bubbles are just around the corner of the large DW, this location has plenty of constant water movement.
If he wanted to get away from any water movement there are several places for him to go.
