Would this be good for a single male??

http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441776904&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302030099&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023693&bmUID=1113361196006

If it was my choice I would go with the two gallon option. It is very similar to what I currently have my betta in.

It should be fine. you may want to get a 2 way gang valve to limit the flow of the UGF, but otherwise, it should be fine

I certainly would go for the two Gallon the bigger the better. Looks like a good buy.

That is fine but I would go with the 2 gallon as has been posted above.... a few other tanks I like off that site:

[link="Goldfish" starter kit]http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441807849&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302030099&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023693&bmUID=1113402570459" style="COLOR: #FCE7A4[/link]

[link=Mini Bow 2.5]http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441779403&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302030099&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023693&bmUID=1113402570461" style="COLOR: #FCE7A4[/link]

If you want something even cheaper, go with a [link=Kritter Keeper]http://www.futurepets.com/cgi-bin/FULLPRES.exe?PARTNUM=LE20010" style="COLOR: #FCE7A4[/link] (usually used for small reptiles and things but they make good betta and other small fish tanks)

Kritter Keeper Capacity:

Mini - 0.75 gallons (not recommended)
Small - 1.5 gallons
Medium - 3 gallons
Large - 5 gallons
X-Large - 7 gallons

Small Pals Pens are close to the same thing but I find the more rounded shape of the Small Pals things is a bit of a hassle. It's harder to fit equipment onto them like lights, filters and small heaters.

I have a few of those in the 2g size. Nice little tanks for a betta and even an ADF friends. I don't use the UGF though.

I didn't check PetSmart's shipping costs but PetCo has a very similar tank with an online-only sale:

1g

2g

Kritter Keepers are an inexpesive option that I've kept bettas in. And I do really like the Mini-Bow 2.5 It comes with a Whisper filter...my son's betta in the Mini-bow has had no problems with the filter output.

Whispers or any other internal filters are nice for betta tanks

If you're going with a Kritter Keeper or something similar and want to add an inexpensive filter that the bettas won't have problems with, I like sponges or the old box corner filter model. I really have no idea why everybody hates box corner filters. They're cheap and easy to set up. Instead of packing floss into them, I usually run them with activated carbon and a sponge I have cut to fit inside them. They don't make a whole lot of current and they are great for small tanks.

Anything cheap from [link=THIS PAGE]http://www.bigalsonline.ca/catalog/category.xml?pcid1=2885;category_id=1725" style="COLOR: #FCE7A4[/link] would be fine, you can also get corner filters and those little "Clear Free" things from walmart for less $$. *)

I think the larger tank you can afford with a betta, the better. Within reason, of course. I have one betta in a 2.5g and another one in a 10g. In the 10 I plan on adding some dwarf cories and leaving the betta as a center piece.
