Can a betta go in a unheated bowl? I have one and I really dislike goldfish so I was wondering if a betta would be ok.

depends, on the avg. water temp. my bowls/ and some tanks are unheated, and they are fine. given within reason, such as room temp.

bettas have been know to last in a car overnight, so my guess is 50-60 would be the min. but that is an accident. the highest is usually 90, and high temps are good for breeding, common room temps are 70-80 and that should be fine.

I think it will depend on your room temp our LFS has no heaters in any of the tanks the room is heated and closed over night.

As long as the ambient room temperature does not go below 65°F, it will be fine. I have always kept my bettas in unheated containers, and sometimes during the winter the ambient temperature can drop down to 58°F. The bettas, however, were perfectly fine and normal. They are tough little fish.
