After I have cycled my 10g Betta tank and the plants are established who goes in first, the male Betta or the support small fish? Also what is your reason for your choice?

The smaller fish, both to allow them time to gain a little size (don't want them to be betta-mouth-sized ) and so that they're not invading his territory when you add them. Plus, it means you get more schooling out of them if they're tetras - a week or so when you add them, and a week or so once you add him and scare them.

I'd do the same, but I would get a 3L juice bottle holding container ready for the betta, so he can get used to the concept of 'other fish' before he is let loose in the tank.

Yep, same as above. The Betta may claim the entire tank as his territory and will see others as invaders.

Don't panic too much when he's put in, he may do a bit of chasing at first but will settle down very quickly. Once settled they are very peaceful with other fish. I've seen neons steal food right out of my Bettas mouth without a fight, just a dirty look

Bettas are esily distracted a bit like dumb puppies in a decent sized planted tank. Poking around everywhere they are more of a danger to themselves then others :%)

if other fishes are being added, then i would go with the smaller fishes first, then the betta, however i dont believe in the hole betta will be aggressive b/c of when it was added.

Thank you all for that I was thinking along those lines. I thought the male Betta could get a protective of the whole tank. Instead of a bottle I will get one of those floating breeding holders (if they are still around) then he can get used to them and I should not have any water problems either.

I saw today at the local pet LFS a net breeding unit if it was solid it would hold over a Lt of water perfect for the job.
