betta getting food? | |
id10t Hobbyist Posts: 57 Kudos: 57 Votes: 0 Registered: 22-Jun-2005 | I recently added a betta to my daughter's tank with her 2 platys. They are getting along great. However... the platys are sorta piggies. They eat *everything* before the betta can eat it - using flake (betta ate it fine at petsmart) and some sample pellets that came with a recent tank kit purchase. Either it floats and the platys get it, or it sinks too fast for either the platys or the betta (but not the ghost shrimp). I plan on picking up some betta bites after work tomorrow, since the ones my mom uses for her betta have a slow sink rate. Any suggestions on how I can make sure the betta gets some food if the new food doesn't do it? |

It's a trick I use every now and then to distract my barbs from the food so others can get some. As for betta foods, look for hikari biogold. It takes ages to sink so the betta should have more of a chance to get a bite. If this continues however, you may want to consider a small 1-5 gallon or even a well planted 10 gallon tank for just the betta...and maybe a few shrimp . ^_^ When you feel so tired but you can't sleep Stuck in reverse And the tears come streaming down your face When you lose something you cannot replace. The Betta should be able to eat out of your fingers while the others are feeding at the other end.
