fin rot | |
acinonyx Small Fry Posts: 13 Kudos: 11 Votes: 0 Registered: 25-Oct-2004 | I just noticed this morning that my veil tail betta's tail is looking like a crowntail's - with the long rays. It's completely my fault. I had slacked on his water changed last week. =( He otherwise looks normal and is active and eating. Is this fin rot? It has not spread to his other flowy bits. But is fin rot supposed to look like that? I thought it was supposed to have black edges and be quite smooth, which he does not have. I don't have water parameters yet - have not yet taken water sample to the pet store to get tested. Nor have I had a chance to get any medication. What should I treat him with? Melafix? I will do 1/3 water changes every few days from now on, and especially while he's recovering. Water parameters: as yet unknown - probably very high in...nitrate/ammonia? (No water change in 2.5 gal tank for 2 weeks.) Temperature mid to high 20's. er...low to mid 80's. He lives with a java fern and several java fern babies. Thanks for any advice. =) |

Also go and buy a very good suitable medication and use only as instructed. Always remember to do the regular water changes.
