It was 2x as expensive as the normal blue or red ones, but 4x as beautiful. That got me thinking, I should make a list of gourami color variations and mutations. I thought it would be fun to see how many we could come up with. dwarf gourami: coral blue orangish red red rainbow blue gourami: blue 2 spot 3 spot gold opaline kissing gourami: white pink baloon giant gourami: grey ? snakeskin: ? pearl: ? moonlight: ? |

Neon blue Orange face Kissing gourami: Green Giant gourami: Rainbow giant gourami (injected with dye) Last edited by sirbooks at 25-Jun-2005 21:39 |

Blue Gouramis can also come in purple, if I am not mistaken. I haven't seen them in person but I have seen them online. If they're actually purple and not edited by the computer I can't say, though. Kissing Gouramis also come in Marbled coloration with green and white or whatnot. Giant Gouramis Osphronemus goramy come in their normal grey/blue colors as well as a white color. There are also pink polkadot ones that are white ones injected with dye. There are also other Osphronemus species such as the Red-Tail (O. laticlavius) and Elephant Ear (O. exodon). Snakesin, Moonlight, and Pearl Gourami do not, to the best of my knowledge, come in other forms other than the ones you see. -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |

I'm not talking about dye as a fish can be dyed any color. And the orangish gouramis are red coral gouramis |

illustrae Fish Addict Posts: 820 Kudos: 876 Registered: 04-May-2005 | I was at my lfs today and saw the purple gouramis. They pop up when you cross blue and gold gouramis, and they have a lovely violet sheen. They're not dyed, though these weren't as bright a purple as I've seen in some pictures online. Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean... |
