While looking at my tank yesterday I saw that one of my dwarf gourami was being "pecked" by a female guppy. The dwarfs hardly swim around the tank they like to be in the corner with the fake plants. The guppy did this once again when the same dwarf came out. The other one has not been bugged.

This has never happened before and nor has it happened today.

Any ideas what came over that guppy?

Dwarf gourami are a timid fish I have not kept them for many years though.

What I would do would be get rid of that Guppy and keep the Gourami in peace.

I dunno, it sounds odd to me. Maybe the guppy was jealous of the brightly colored gourami, and wanted to 'remove' it from the tank. Fish do sometimes attack each other because of similarities, maybe that was the cause.

well, that one's dead. i dont think any other fish killed it though. the body seemed fine. but while it was dying it dashed about and then it would stop and fall to the bottom. i thought this maybe flukes as a swordtail of mine died the same way some weeks ago but i did a 100% water change after that and none of the guppies were affected although two more sowrds died they did not dash around the place.

as a result the other not so shy gourami has become more active and i see him in the middle of the tank quite often.
