I started keeping bettas over 20 years ago. I had some very bad luck with them late last summer. After my last one died I was betta-less by choice for the first time in years.

I'm proud to say I got a nice Easter gift from my kids who is named Jelly Bean

For some reason his coloring doesn't come out properly in pictures...his body & fins are more of a denim blue, and the fins are edged in deep red. He's already built quite a nice bubble nest

Well welcome back then.....and very nice Betta boy BTW!

Pretty boy, I don't think most cameras can capture and do real justice to the beautiful colors that bettas come in.

compairing that pic to my female, is he a pretty dark blue? that is what my steel blue female turns when the camera hits her

What a cute name!!! What very thoughtful children!!! What a pretty Betta boy!!!! I would definitely say you received a multiple of gifts all rolled into one!!!!

Betta-less..... I simply can't imagine that! I alone have 17 males and 23 females --- with one to two more males scheduled to arrive sometime next week.... And then of course, my daughter has 3 males..... The peace and pleasure those Beauties bring to me every day is amazing!

Although I am neither breeder or seller, I just can't imagine how I would feel to be completely Betta-less! (Although there are some days where I would be a less bit tired I suppose -- -- not having all the tanks to clean!)

Your patch of bad luck must have been major -- and I do feel for you in your losses during that time... I just hope everything goes well this time around -- and wish you well!

Thanks for all the replies I'm not a breeder either but a betta was the first fish I ever bought and until last year I've always had at least one.

He's rather dark, like a denim blue. I'll have to try some shots with different lighting.

Welcome back to betta keeping. I just bought my first one that I have had in over 25 years just last week, and I'm already in the process of setting up another tank for an additional one.

I messed around with different lighting and this was the best shot I could get At least it gives some idea of the true color.
