hi,
i was wondering if anyone had any advice or recomendations on transporting a betta. i need to move the little bugger interstate, and the airline won't let him fly (its not like he's a terrorist threat...) anyway, can anyone give me some pointers on how to move him - the airline said freight, but its just one little fish! i dunno, maybe theres a better way. anyway, any ideas would be much appreciated
thanx
tara

bettas are labyrith, so they wont require an air pump for a trip, i dont want to hear feedback about this, but a very simple solution is using one of those lfs betta cups with a lid to transport a betta, this is probably the safiest and i would use it. once and awhile u can lift the top to get some new air.

also a note, i didn't travel in an airplane like this, but i did when walking have 14 bettas in cups with me, when i won them at one of those goldfish setting games, but pockets are good. or using a water bottle, just fill it up and put the beta in, they will never know.[img src='/images/forums/halo.gif' border=0]

They are very fussy about water in the luggage dept in all planes. I know you can carry a drink bottle as carry on luggage easy.
Ask before hand if you can carry a thermos type container in carry on luggage if so this could be the way to go.

But remember they Xray ever thing that you carry on.

haven't moved him yet, i don't have to move house until just before christmas (super inconvenient!) so i'm still workshopping ideas i thought about smuggling him onto the plane in a water bottle, but i guess they would notice him swimming around on the x-ray, which could be embarrassing

i think i will maybe take him to an aquarium shop and ask if they will help me to pack him up safely so he can go with the freight company. i'm in sydney, does anyone know of any good places that might do this?
