I may just be crazy, but my newest male betta (have had him for about 2 weeks) lives in his own 5g planted tank and has been very active lately.
I just noticed a couple days ago that he seems to swim back and forth in the front of the tank constantly. The betta I have in my 10g with neons may just be old and lazy, but he isn't that active. He mostly hangs out somewhere and only moves around when its time to eat.
The newer betta is most likely younger than my other one because he is smaller. The filter I have on the tank is a Whisper 10i. It has a flow adjuster, but I couldn't see a difference when I tried to slow it down. The flow is pretty strong. I just wonder if that is making him stressed.
Maybe he is just really happy. He eats well and looks healthy. The temp stays at 82F. Is he just a more active Betta?

Girlie,

I think you answered your own question ! Aren't you the wise one huh ! Seriously, I really think your new beta is simply, as you so well put it, happy !

By the way, I have one just like that at home now and another one that is dead now, but was lazy as heck like you described.

Cheers and have fun following your beta !

My M Betta swims all over the place but most of the time along the base of the tank at the front. Then he will stop and half lay on his side as if dead but no just laying there.

Have a look in [link=My Profile]http://

Ok...good to know. This is only my second Betta, so I wasn't sure. He just swims in the same path back and forth. I guess he is exercising or something. Very silly. Thanks everyone. I hoped he was alright. My other male may be sick...don't know. His abdomen is swollen. I will address that in the hospital thread though.

It's better to have an active Betta, than a lazy one. The more active he is, the healthier & happier he is.

All fish have different personalities

Some bettas are active when young and then when they get old (If he came from a petstore he is probubly at least 1 yr old) they tend to not be as active. Plus, from my experience, bettas in a cummunity tank arnt as active as ones with alot of space and on there own.

Have fun with your fish!
