leighton22 Fingerling Posts: 22 Kudos: 26 Votes: 0 Registered: 24-Sep-2004 | Can anyone tell me, at what age will a female guppy be able to be reproductive? Also baby guppys that are born they cant be born pregnant or be able to reproduce on there own will they? Its just that my baby guppy is now a few months old and getting to the same size as the others and her gravid spot is hugh! Leighton |

houston Fish Guru You want what when? Posts: 2623 Kudos: 2462 Votes: 337 Registered: 29-Mar-2003 | As mentioned above, my guppies tend to have their first batch of fry at 3-4 months old, then they have a new batch every 28-32 days or so...Once a female is fertilized she can have fry for 6-9 months (depends on where you read it, and I'm sure on the guppy itself) without having a male present. Male guppies can often start breeding at 2-3 months, once the gonopodium has developed. Thus it is quite difficult to keep the young fry from breeding, unless you are in constant observation of them and seperate them as soon as the sex is visible...
