can i have 3 mollyies in a 10 gallon tank? i have had my silver molly for a few months, and he isnt getting any bigger, hes about 2 inches maybe a lil more.i have heard molly sizes of 2 inches 2.5, 3, everything up to about 5 inches. SO i am confident that they do not get over 3 inches. I have seen them huge only once, and they werent normal, the colors were weird, the body shape was wierd and it was from a bad petstore *cough* sprawlmart *cough* i would make it either all males, or 1 male 2 females. I would let the parents eat the fry, and save maybe 1-3. Can it work???

thanks

i doubt it, as i have had huge mollies, and wiether they were breed to sialfins or not, they were very big.

if you go with females i doubt that 3 would eat 2 sets of females babies. given they give birth at the same time.

personally i wouldn't as it would be overstocked in a 10 gallon.

"the body shape was wierd"

He may be a "Balloon" molly, which would explain his lack of growth. Balloon mollies are bred to be more rotund and shorter in length. Some find this a cruel practice while others do not. Im not all that familer with these particular mollies, so i cannot say how the balloon deformity affects their quality of life. They do seem to have less mobility than most, from what ive seen of them.

That said...

The other molly varieties are active and fairly large, and so i would not reccomend them for your tank. You do have options however.

You could add six small tetras or rasboras.

Guppies are a possibilty but there is chance of them breeding with the molly.

Cherry barbs would also work. Maybe a pair of them with a dwarf gourami and your male molly?

I think you should do a total rethink on the Mollies for the 10G once they start breeding it will be very easy and very quickly to be over loaded.
There are many options for a 10G do a bit of research and come back with your ideas.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
