Platies | |
Callatya Moderator The girl's got crabs! Posts: 9662 Kudos: 5261 Registered: 16-Sep-2001 | I'm giving up on my asian tank. According to the OH its "boring" and requires more colour. So i'm getting a selection of platies. Just curious if there is a website or organisation that slows the platy show standard and recognised colour varieties? |

They are hard to find - as usually LFS tanks contain a hodge podge of mixed platies, but I just love these ones. Here's another link http://www.fishforums.net/lofiversion/index.php/t46309.html EDIT: Ah, yes mughal113 found a pic of the red ones I like. Under the name of assorted wag tail I think. In true life, the red can be very vibrant & look better than the pics. Tried to find a pic of my 2nd favourite - which is solid red, with black tail & fins. Couldn't find a pic. But, besides these favourites of mine, there are many colours available, including wsunset & mickey mouse platys (with the image of micky on their tails). Lots of speckled varieties out there if that's what you like. Good luck with them. Cheers TW |

Callatya Moderator The girl's got crabs! Posts: 9662 Kudos: 5261 Registered: 16-Sep-2001 | Calico is the colour I like! I never knew its name. Not the sunsets though, just the red/white. http://www.aquariumfish.net/images_01/platy_white_calico_2-002_w90.jpg Brilliant, now I can pop out and have a fair idea of what i should be aiming for. I used to have the gold twin bars, but they were sold over here as gold comets. Gorgeous fish. I used to have one that was a stunning me and this dalmation/appaloosa one Those two were inseperable, even in a tankful of platies they'd seek each other out. Do those colour variations have names? |
