The truth of the matter is that all livebearers will mate when the water conditions are good and when there is enough food Livebearers require nothing special for mating other than the above listed items.So I guess what I am getting at is no, platies will mate just as readily as mollies and guppies. I've had two different types of platies since I started over a year ago (X. maculatus and X. xiphophorus) and all you need is a male, a female, and patience. They breed like rabbits. My X. variatus have been succesful at breeding and fry survival, but I have kept all of their babies so far. I just love their coloration (blue parrot) "Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder." |
