i would go with all males.. it really doesnt matter what sex you choose.. and they're not really schooling fish, mine tend to go everywhere... if you're interested in platies.. you might try going with swordtails.. they're pretty neat and always fun to watch.

whatever you do, dont get both male and females, becuase they breed like CRAZY:%)....

anywho.. good luck

i agree, an all male gorup i think is best for people with limited tanks and sizes, only b/c u can house "more" and they wont breed, and cause chaos in ur tanks.

Hey thanks Chelaine
So all males won't harrass each other (eg nip)? I was thinking I prefered the males, as their prettier

with platies they are kinda the same, both sexs are colored and usually have equal finnage.

but i doubt they would fight, if their are no females to be competing for.

usually most lfs will sell pairs(but mostly with guppies) just tell them what u are looking for "fish with the extension, gono"

at one point i had only males in my 29 gallon. the only difference was they were swordtails.. i dont think you would have a problem, they're pretty peaceful community fish.... now my mollies on the other hand, they get fiesty when it comes to feeding time....
